Does incant scaling matter? ›

Incant Scaling only affects the damage or healing of the incantations cast by the seal, and has no effect on the duration of buffs or other incantations. Incantations which heal over time do not benefit from Incant Scaling.

1 Erdtree Seal

Though it starts at a paltry 60 Incantation scaling stat, one that only goes up to around 240 at +10, its Faith scaling is what raises the Erdtree Seal to be the best Sacred Seal in Elden Ring.

The Incant Scaling stat is used to determine damage and healing values of incantations. It will not affect other features of incantations such as duration or range, and it will not affect sorceries.

Unless you have a spell tool that has unique scaling, sorceries scale with intelligence, and incantations scale with faith. There are fire sorceries (int), and fire incantations (faith), but unless you use a spell tool that has unique scaling, the general scaling rule applies.

Scaling is important because students with different abilities study many different combinations of subjects. It is scaling that enables fair comparisons between the different subjects for the purpose of tertiary selection.

Sorceries include the more traditional magical abilities - including ranged projectiles, magical sword attacks, and so forth - while Incantations include sacred holy magic to heal or repel the undead or fire magic that draws power from the dragon communion.

The offensive power of sorceries makes them more useful overall across both PvE and PvP, and since sorcery spells can be cast faster, sorcery casters don't have to worry about being damaged while using magic as much as incantation users do (note that Dexterity makes you cast both types of magic faster).

Intelligence is the stat for casting Sorceries and for increasing your magic resistance. Attribute required to perform sacred incantations. Also boosts power of faith-scaling incantations. Faith is the stat for the other kind of magic, Incantations.

Faith has better weapon variety and utility/buff spells. Int has better offensive spell options especially after they patched fp costs. So it depends if you want to go more melee with magic as back up or caster. You can go melee with casting as back up with int, but you really only have 3 weapon options.

When it comes to taking on Elden Ring's tougher bosses, weapon scaling can play a massive part in how much damage a player is outputting. Put simply, most weapons scale based on a specific attribute, meaning that the more points that are put into that attribute, the stronger the weapon becomes.

Weapons can scale to Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Arcane or Faith, or even any combination, with some weapons affected by multiple numbers at the same time. Weapon scaling is one of the most important and least-explained mechanics in Elden Ring, as it'll define what's powerful and what's weak in your hands.

Luck and skill go hand-in-hand. Leveling up Faith and upgrading you Finger Seal with smithing stones increases the damage of your incantations, you only need to increase Arcane if you are going for a bleed build or to hit the requirements for the Dragon incantations.

Each point allocated to the Faith stat increases the effectiveness and damage dealt by Incantations cast with weapons that have Faith scaling. A weapon with a Faith scaling grade of S will benefit the most from the Faith Attribute, followed by grades A, B, C, D, and E.
