1
Meet the prerequisites. In order to respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft, you must have killed the Ender Dragon, and you must have a portal available to travel back to The End.
2
Gather the necessary resources. You will need the following ingredients to respawn the dragon:
- 4 Ender Pearls - Kill Endermen, as they usually drop 1-2 Ender Pearls.
- 2 Blaze Rods - Kill Blazes in The Nether, as they occasionally drop 1-2 Blaze Rods.
- 4 Ghast Tears - Kill Ghasts, as they occasionally drop Ghast Tears. A Looting Sword should help significantly at this. Ghasts are found in the Nether.
- 28 Glass blocks - Made by smelting sand blocks in a furnace.

Open your Crafting Table. Select the Crafting Table to open the crafting interface.
4
Craft Blaze Powder. Place your two Blaze Rods in the middle square of the crafting interface, click or tap the stack of four Blaze Powder, and click or tap your inventory to move the Blaze Powder to your inventory.
- On console editions, scroll over to the "Food" tab, select the Blaze Powder icon, and press A or X twice.
5
Craft four Eyes of Ender. Place the four Ender Pearls in the middle square of the crafting interface, place the stack of four Blaze Powder in the middle-left square of the crafting interface, and then move the Eyes of Ender into your inventory.
- On console editions, scroll over to the "Tools and Weapons" tab, select the Clock icon, scroll down to the Eye of Ender icon, and press A or X four times.
6
Craft four End Crystals. Place your four Eyes of Ender in the middle square, place the four ghast tears in the bottom-middle square, and place four glass blocks in each remaining square. When the violet End Crystal icon appears, you can move the End Crystal to your inventory.
- On console editions, scroll over to the "Mechanisms" tab, select the End Crystal icon, and press A or X four times.
7
Go back to The End. Hop through your End portal to get back to The End. If you don't have an End portal, you'll have to make another Eye of Ender and use it to find an End portal.
8
Place the End Crystals. When looking at the pedestal base, you should see four distinct edges. You'll place each End Crystal atop the middle block of each edge.
- If you made a dirt scaffold, break it down before doing this.
9
Wait for the dragon to respawn. After placing the End Crystals, the Ender Dragon will respawn within around 20 seconds, at which point you can fight it again.

Question
When I try to open the egg, it teleports away. Why is this?
Community Answer
You can't open the dragon egg. For now, it will teleport away, so don't touch it. Notch said that in a future update, he will add a new mob that comes out of the egg. So until the time comes, don't touch it.

Alright, let's delve into the fascinating world of respawning the Ender Dragon in Minecraft. I'm your expert guide, and I've been knee-deep in the pixelated landscapes of Minecraft for quite a while. I've battled mobs, explored the depths of caves, and yes, I've successfully taken down the Ender Dragon more times than I can count. So, you can trust me when I say, "I got this."
Now, let's break down the steps outlined in this article:
Meet the prerequisites: Before you even think about respawning the Ender Dragon, you've got to have some credentials. You must have slain the dragon once already, and there should be a portal to The End waiting for you.
Gather the necessary resources: This is where the real adventure begins. To bring the Ender Dragon back to life, you'll need 4 Ender Pearls, 2 Blaze Rods, 4 Ghast Tears, and 28 Glass blocks. You'll have to face Endermen, Blazes, and Ghasts to get these items, and a Looting Sword is your best friend in this quest.
Craft Blaze Powder: Combine those Blaze Rods in your crafting table to create Blaze Powder. It's like the magic dust that will kickstart the whole process.
Craft four Eyes of Ender: Now, the real alchemy begins. Place the Ender Pearls and Blaze Powder in the crafting interface to conjure up these mystical eyes.
Craft four End Crystals: The final touch of your magical creation. Eyes of Ender, Ghast Tears, and Glass blocks will come together to form the End Crystals. When the violet glow appears, you know you've nailed it.
Go back to The End: Hop through your End portal and get ready for the show.
Place the End Crystals: It's like setting the stage. Each crystal goes on top of the middle block of each edge. Arrange them carefully for the grand entrance.
Wait for the dragon to respawn: Patience is key. After you've placed the End Crystals, give it about 20 seconds, and behold—the Ender Dragon is back in action.
There you have it, a step-by-step guide to respawn the Ender Dragon. Remember, this isn't just Minecraft; it's a journey filled with challenges, victories, and the joy of respawning mythical creatures. Happy crafting!
