Aether has been described to Arthur Leywin by Myre as follows: Mana is a liquid in a cup, changing to fit any shape, always in motion and flexible. In this metaphor, Aether is the cup itself, rigid, immutable, and without much strength. It is solid and will never change without some external force.
Three distinct branches of Aether were initially believed to exist: vivum (existence), aevum (time), and spatium (space).
This deviates from the course when Arthur creates his Aether core. He is shown manipulating the Aether, something previously considered impossible, and using it as mana. Upon discovering his newfound power, Arthur learns that the ancient mage race, the djinn, who created the portals, the underground city in Dicathen and the Library in the Void Dimension of Aether, could manipulate the Aether as they pleased.

Spatium[]
The aether type that controls the existing space. This is the aether that is the most seen throughout the total of the novel and webcomic. It’s power goes from the teleportation up to folding space itself to the users will.
Some known power and abilities relating of the Spatium are:
Teleportation Portals: Manifested, old arcs scattered around the three continents, these arcs have helped both Dicathen and Alacrya in their creation of cities and civilization. It is known that the portals found in the deepest parts of the dungeons have the ability to transport beings between the continents.
God Step: An ability named by Arthur as an evolution to Burst Step. After the aether crystal containing the memories of the djinn gave a god-rune to him, Arthur manifested it’s power as God Step. It’s power is to create a teleportation-like movement where Arthur can move through incredible distances within an instant.
It has been shown that the three Phases of the beast-will of Sylvia is capable of manipulating Spatium in addition to Aevum. This is shown by creating a portal to the Sanctuary, the secret city of the djinn and folding space for people to get near to it.
Aevum[]
The aether type that controls the time of the world. This type of aether is natural for both Kezess Indrath and Sylvia, as shown in her 3 phases of her will when Arthur uses them. An artifact that is known to possess this kind of aether is the mana box, the crystal that the djinn gave to Arthur as an extra reward.
Aroa’s Requiem: A God Rune that Arthur received from the djinn’s crystal, Aroa’s Requiem allows him to reverse time on inorganic objects. It appears that objects affected by aether can resist this ability, possibly due to Arthur’s lack of experience using it.
Static Void: A God runes that allows the user to freeze time, along with the mana particles, in the atmosphere. The user can also choose to unfreeze any individuals that they wish to be unaffected. However, this technique can be repelled if a target uses aether to push back the technique, rendering themselves and, anything else around the aether unfrozen.
Vivum[]
Also known as the aether of existence, this aether type was previously thought to only control life. Later, in the novel, the edict of existence (life) consists of actually four sub-types or sub-branches of aether: Life, Death, Creation, and Destruction.
Both Sylvie and Myre have an inclination toward Vivum, making them an evolution of the deviants like Arthur's mother.
Rune of Destruction: An ability unlocked by Arthur when trying to escape one of the four ancient ruins. By unlocking it, it manifests as Arthur's greater thought of destruction, fire. It generates amethyst-flames that devastate everything on its path. Unfortunately, it’s side effect is to make Arthur go insane and have a thirst for absolute destruction; these effects become worse every time he uses it. It is currently possessed by Regis, who cannot control it to the fullest for the moment
Realmheart: An ability that is common throughout all of the Indrath clan members. This allows the user to see mana and aether in the atmosphere, additionally allowing for more effective and efficient mana control. Gold runes will form on the users arms and under their eyes, these runes show an Indrath clan member what their affinity for aether is. However, due to the lack of information learned by the Indrath clan, their usage of realmheart and knowledge of aether is incorrect, as Arthur finds out the true potential of Realmheart.
Fate[]
Fate is an edict, higher than what aether encompasses, above that of time, space, and life. Fate ties into not only the life we live in now, but lives elsewhere and elsewhen. Fate is the core component to reincarnation.[1]
Agrona believed that the vessel was the key component in forceful application of reincarnation, which later proved out to be true as he used both Arthur Leywin and Nico Sever to reincarnate Cecilia into Arthur’s current world.
