Wild animals have complex behavioral, social, nutritional and psychological needs. Most people cannot meet the needs of wild animals kept as pets. Wild animals need to be with members of their own species.
It's often dangerous because wild animals typically become aggressive to humans, especially as the animals get older. Wild animals also may carry diseases dangerous to humans.
Exotic animals — lions, tigers, wolves, bears, reptiles, non-human primates — belong in their natural habitats and not in the hands of private individuals as “pets.” By their very nature, these animals are wild and potentially dangerous and, as such, do not adjust well to a captive environment.

We say zoos are bad because animals are forced to live in unnatural, stressful, boring environments, leading to a lack of mental and physical stimulation. They are removed from their natural habitats and confined to small limited spaces and often forced to perform tricks or entertain visitors.
Wild animals need to learn how to fend for themselves, and this is an important part of their survival. Taking animals from the wild prevents them from learning about natural enemies and other necessary survival skills.
