Step 1: Open WhatsApp and click on the three vertical dots at the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap on the option ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Next, click on the option ‘Storage and Data’.

Step 4: Now, enable the option ‘Use less data for calls’ by tapping on the toggle place in front of the option

Point to note: Before initiating the process, you must ensure that you have installed the latest version of WhatsApp, i.e., version 2.21.12.21 for Android and version 2.21.130.15 on iOS.

Reduce data consumption from photos and videos

But you can always access the media auto-download feature to reduce data consumption. You just need to turn it off from WhatsApp’s settings to stop the automatic download of photos and videos from your WhatsApp.

You can turn-off the media auto-download feature by heading on to the ‘Settings’ of your WhatsApp, then ‘Storage and Data’. Lastly, tap on the option ‘when using mobile data’, uncheck all the boxes and then tap ‘OK’.
