Sometimes It’s difficult to know what to serve with lobster tails. After all, you don’t want the side dishes to compete with the star of the meal when it’s this special.

The best side dishes complement the main dish, especially when it’s a lobster dinner, which is a delightfully decadent meal simply because it’s lobster.

What to Serve with Lobster Tails (1)

Whether you’re serving lobster tails or whole lobster, it’s best to offer a simple side or two. And then finish off with dessert to take it to the next level of perfection.

In addition to what to serve with lobster tails, I have one of the easiest recipes below in the printable recipe card.

Perfect Balance for a Special Occasion

All kinds of special occasions call for something you don’t eat every day. Whether it’s romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day, a special date night, someone’s birthday, or just a special dinner to make someone happy, lobster is a great thing to elevate the occasion.

I like a balance of foods that go with the sweet meat of lobster. For example, I serve either a salad or some sort of green vegetable and a starch. Sometimes I add bread.

Keep in mind that the best sides can be easy to make. And the perfect side dish is the one you like the most.

Serve a couple of lemon wedges for each lobster tail. A lot of people enjoy squeezing lemon juice over any type of seafood.

The same goes with your drink. Serve your favorite beverage with your lobster dinner, and you’ll enjoy it more.

Most experts say you should serve a dry white wine with lobster. But if you prefer red wine, ignore “the rules” and serve that.

Lobster Tail Recipe

There are so many different lobster tail recipes, and most of them are good. In fact I would say that the best lobster recipes are the ones you can easily make and enjoy eating.

Mine is an easy recipe that only requires a few things: lobster tails (of course), salted butter, lemon juice, a sharp pair of kitchen shears, and a baking sheet.

Butterfly the lobster tails using kitchen shears. Then brush the mixture of butter and lemon juice over the meat before you broil it to perfection.

See the full recipe with measurements and directions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Sauces and Dips

First of all, remember that the sweet taste of lobster tail meat is enhanced and made even better with dips or sauces.

I think the most popular dip is melted butter. Present it in a small bowl near the lobster so it’s ready to bathe each bite of lobster meat. Yum!

You can add seasonings to the butter to make it even better. We enjoy garlic butter with lobster tails.

It’s also delicious with fresh herbs mixed in. I enjoy adding a little bit of thyme or rosemary to the butter.

Another delicious sauce that’s surprisingly good is this buttermilk ranch dressing.Or you can save it for your salad.
