US fast-food chain Wendy's is coming to Ireland!
Wendy's restaurant chain is on the way to Ireland in 2022 as part of the franchise's expansion to Ireland and the UK.
The fast-food chain is expected to create up to 50 branches after already opening its first few stores in the UK this summer.
The franchise had a presence in the UK until 2001 when they left the market stating high operating costs as the reason for its departure.
According to The Irish Mirror, the chain released a statement looking ahead to their entry to Ireland.

The statement read that it is "actively engaging in discussions with franchise partners to rapidly grow and scale its brand presence in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland."
Wendy’s was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio and is best known for its made-to-order square hamburgers, sea salt fries, and the Frosty, a form of soft-serve ice cream.
There are approximately 6,900 restaurants worldwide with a desire to expand into the Irish food market.
Paul Hilder is Wendy’s Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the UK and Canada. He says that they have already begun preparations to expand into the UK and Irish markets.

“We’re in the final stages of discussions with two traditional franchise partners who will help the brand cross the Midlands and the North of England, and we have a very strong pipeline of franchise candidates beyond that.”
