“Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth,” released Jan. 26 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms, is the Sega series' latest entry, continuing the story of the new main character, a 42-year-old homeless ex-con with a heart of gold named Ichiban Kasuga.

Why this not called "Yakuza" this time? I'm out of the loop on this. Why is this not called Yakuza like the other games in series? They wanted to be like the original Japanese title of the series, Ryu Ga Gotoku which translates to Like A Dragon.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was announced in September 2022 during Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's Summit livestream, initially named Like a Dragon 8. The first announcement trailer featured voiceover from various characters in the game, followed by the on-screen appearance of both Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu.

To keep consistency with the franchise's name in Japan, Sega's Yakuza is henceforth being rebranded as Like a Dragon going forward.

Kiryu and Majima don't see one another until the game's final act, and it is the first time the characters have seen each other in many years, with Kiryu having faked his death to join the Daidoji Faction after the events of Yakuza 6.

The original deal in Yakuza 6 (where Kiryu faked his death in the ending) was made because Kiryu knew the secret of onomichi (or whatever the city was called) and all the participating people in that conspiracy. They would still off him BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE SECRET, no matter if the world knows he is still alive or not.

Without too many spoilers, you find Dojima, Majima, and Saejima living out in the middle of nowhere and ask them to join your cause. Majima appears very late into Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's main story.

Ichiban and co. is definitely below Kiryu for sure. Kiryu didn't need a party when raiding Yakuza HQ's in the past. A 20 years of age Kiryu in 0 already had impressive victories against the likes of Kuze and Shibusawa and this is just Kiryu without even Komaki's proper training.

The hardest boss battle in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth pits the party against Majima, Saejima, and Daigo, three of Kiryu's former enemies, allies, and rivals from previous games in the Yakuza series. The party fights all of them at once, and despite their age, these three are as strong as they've ever been.

Ichiban agrees, no questions asked, and spends 18 years in prison. The day Ichi leaves a free man at the ripe age of 42, his beloved yakuza family is nowhere in sight, with only a washed up detective, Adachi, to greet him and let him know that the Tojo Clan is no more.

By chance of fate, he heard the wrong locker, and thus took Sawashiro's son, believing him to be his own, while he true son, Ichiban, was left there. Ichiban has lived his entire life wanting one thing - for Arakawa to love him like a son. The whole time, he was Arakawa's son by birth, by right.

yes they do reconcile and it's implied that they are now an official couple at the end of Y8, even if he can still lack common sense at times. Her response to being proposed to on the first date is very "human".

Saeko Mukoda

Saeko is a party member who requires Ichiban to reach rank 10 in Style. You also need to max out your bond by bringing Saeko into battles and completing her Drink Links at the Survive Bar. Afterwards, you can head back to Survive Bar for a cutscene which indicates you are in a romantic relationship.
