A TikTok user named Justin who claims to work at McDonald's explained how staff prepare onions for burgers but people were left baffled by the method which is commonly used in the food industry

These days it seems McDonald's employees are always exposing company 'secrets' online.

If they're not opening up about the "real reason" the straws are so long, they're explaining why they take your picture at the drive-thru.

But the latest behind-the-scenes tidbit comes from TikTok user @justinalbert19, who dished the dirt on how staff "make onions," in a clip that has been viewed millions of times.

It was simply captioned: "How we make onions at McDonald's."

In the video, Justin revealed that the onions they use in the burgers we all know and love are pre-prepared.

Now, this might not come as a surprise to many McDonald's fans, but the method he claimed they used in-store is making people "nauseous".

Justin said that the onions are actually dehydrated.

The process of dehydrating food involves removing all of the moisture to preserve it.

In the video, Justin adds the dehydrated onions and a load of ice to a pot.

He then fills with water and mixes.

Once the mixture is thick, he puts a lid on top and they're ready to be used.

But the method is news to a lot of fans as one wrote: "Is this a joke????"

Another wrote: "I don't know what I expected tbh."

A third said: "They can't even cut up their own onions."

While a fourth commented: "I don't even eat McDonald's but I'm still nauseous from seeing this."

"Not yall expecting them to sit there cutting up fresh onions," replied someone else.

A different user added: "Normalise people heating dehydrated foods cause people will eat instant mash."

A fellow McDonald's employee then revealed: "There are actually two different types of onions, fresh ones and the dehydrated ones.

"Dehydrated goes on the McDoubles, Big Macs, cheeseburgers, etc and the freshly sliced ones go on burgers like the quarter pounder."
