As a football fan, you no doubt watched the Super Bowl last weekend. But even if you don't actively follow American football, you were inadvertently provided with match analyses, statistics on absurd ticket prices or clips from the famous halftime show on social networks at the start of the week. Now you are rightly wondering what the Super Bowl has to do with the capital markets - after all, you are not holding the sports page of a daily newspaper in your hand. You'll find the answer in this issue of Economic Situation and Strategy, written by Simon Landt.#newsletter #superbowl #korrelation

Just in time for the start of the year, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has updated its economic outlook and published its most recent forecasts. Even though there were no major surprises, the adjustments and in particular the new wording are worth a look. In contrast to the previous economic outlook, the risks to global growth are now considered balanced and no longer tilted to the downside.Simon Landt has analysed the current IMF forecasts in this issue of "Economic Situation & Strategy".#newsletter #imf #economics

At university we learned that risk in the financial markets is measured by the volatility of prices. The higher the volatility, the greater the price fluctuations. However, volatility says nothing about the direction of prices. You can find out which alternative risk measure we prefer and whether a higher return necessarily goes hand in hand with a higher risk in the current issue of "Economic Situation and Strategy" written by Dr. Christian Jasperneite.#newsletter #volatility #riskmeasure

Later Stage VC DACH Update: navigating growth in a sequentially improving funding environment!📈Key Market Trends:The VC market faces challenges and opportunities alike, significantly influenced by factors such as inflation, interest rates, industrial output, and economic growth. After the funding environment for growth companies deteriorated over the past two years, there have been sequential improvements in the DACH region in Q4, which make us cautiously optimistic for 2024. 💡Key Indicators:- DACH startups (all stages) raised 47% less compared to 2022 (Q4 -23% yoy; +29% qoq).- Macroeeonomic improvements are expected to lead to increased deal activity, though average deal volume may decline due to more restrictive liquidity.- The anticipation of more IPOs ahead brings optimism for 2024, with 1,500+ unicorns worldwide waiting for more stable conditions to go public.🌐Current Challenges:- Growth Companies are facing challenges as macroeconomic conditions restrict investors and complicate capital raising.- Q42023 witnessed an increase in bankruptcies, with an average of one bankruptcy per day.💰Focus on Valuations:- Valuations are still 25% below 2022 levels. We expect a healthy increase in 2024 compared to previous year.📈Why M.M.Warburg & CO?In our Venture- & Growth Capital Advisory we help growth companies in raising capital. Our expertise lies especially in transactions with long-term-oriented family offices and entrepreneurial capital, guiding companies to the stock market or a trade sale.📧Reach out toMustafa Hidirto discuss how we can jointly shape your growth and success.#VentureCapital #GrowthCapital#MarketUpdate

💡Warburg Best Ideas 2024 Unveiled! We have published our favourite equity investment ideas for 2024, highlighting 13 stocks for which we have distinct conviction. 🌍Despite negative geopolitical factors, the global economy is likely to recover over the course of 2024 given the prospect of falling inflation rates. Inflation in both the US and the Eurozone should approach some 2% in late summer 2024. This gives monetary policy the necessary scope to ease the restrictive interest-rate levels and thus support the economic recovery. 📊 At the same time, valuation multiples of German stocks seem particularly attractive. The DAX is currently trading at a one-year forward PER of 11.6x, which compares to an average of 12.6x since 2003. For the MDAX, valuation discounts look even more exciting, with the index trading some 20% below its 10-year average. 🔍 In such an environment, our Best Ideas focus on companies that benefit from an economic upswing and with particularly attractive valuation levels. As usual we are banking on companies that have strong business models. The product is available for Warburg Research subscribers only.📈 The performance of our “Best Ideas 2023” as an equally weighted portfolio reached 25.1%, with highlights including Redcare Pharmacy (+160%), SÜSS MicroTec (+72%), Hypoport (+66%) and Vitesco Technologies (+48%), all measured from publication of the product until possible downgrade.💬 Michael Heider and the Warburg Research GmbH Team remain the go-to house if you are looking for consistent outperformance in Germany.
