How To Use The Mill - Stardew Valley Guide - IGN (2024)

The Mill is a key farm building in Stardew Valley, as it turns fairly useless items into more valuable and useful incredients. Wheat can be milled to make flour, beets to make sugar, while unmilled rice, once milled, becomes regular rice.

The Mill costs 2500g, and requires 50 Stones, 150 Wood, and 4 Cloth in order to make. Taking these items and the money to Robin in the Carpenter's Shop will get you a mill on your farm two days later. Once built, interact with the mill to use it.

There is no limit on how many ingredients you place in the mill, and can even mix and match, placing wheat, beets, and unmilled rice all in the mill at once. However, regardless of how many or how few ingredients you place in the mill, it will always take one day to produce results.

One wheat will make one flour, and one unmilled rice will make one rice, but one beet will make three sugars. Milled ingredients will go into a little box to the right of the mill, and items can remain in there for as long as you wish, with more being added each time you mill. However, it is limited to 36 storage slots. If you mill so much that you fill up these slots, all additional milled goods will be lost.
