Interview With Author

People have bad days, nay, even straight-up awful days. It may be difficult to even begin to understand what they are going through when they’re busy screaming their face off at you.
Although you can’t get into everyone’s head, you could try to be understanding or even find out what’s bothering the person so much that they snap at others and try to help them.
Today’s story is a recounting by a Redditor about how his barber snapped at him, making a huge scene and even getting physical, with quite a sad conclusion.

Perhaps getting petty revenge isn’t always the way to go, especially if you don’t know what the other person is going through

What am I missing here? I'm not sure why him being "old" and having certain "circ*mstances" excuses this type of behavior at all... Even if he is having problems, the son or whoever answered the phone should be dealing with it. This is NOT a situation a customer should have to deal with under any circ*mstances... I would definitely never go back and leave a horrible review. As I said, even if the old guy is going through some sh**, that doesn't excuse his behavior or the decision to keep him there. That is their problem to work out, not the customers.

Aggressive behavior or irritability is often an early indicator of dementia. Also tasks taking longer than usual, personality changes, confusion etc. Kinda sounds like maybe there is something other than grief going on.

Being old and having life happen isn't an excuse for being rude.

Honestly it kinda sounds more like early dementia rather than grief....or both.

Possibly relevant, but Oma is "grandmother" in German. So it might be that the old guy's wife died (or maybe his mother, depending on her relationship to the other barber)

Fairly certain this was the case. It's also grandmother in Dutch and several other languages :)
