- Cannot figure out why my mob spawner isn't working!
stealthdragonX 10 years ago#1 I did a bit of research and built this one ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6PIuNTL6RQ ) before on a different map but wanted to start over on a 100% survival map (cheats disabled). I know about underground tunnels and such so i ended up building my spawner over the ocean. it took awhile but I finally finished it and Its not spawning many if any mobs at all. I downloaded the minecraft editor and checked out my game and sure enough the ocean wasn't as deep as i thought and there were tunnels underneath so i used the fill tool to fill them all in with rock and removed spawners anywhere near my spawner, but that didn't help either. I finally in a last ditch effort used the editor to move the spawner over 130 blocks in the air, and STILL i'm not getting any spawns in there. I know the spawner works because I used the editor to copy/paste it onto a superflat land to test it out and i was getting decent mobs spawns, but with all my research I cannot figure out why its not working or what else i can do! Any ideas? |
zyrax2301 10 years ago#2 It certainly sounds like you've taken every step to make it as efficient as possible when it comes to isolating spawning areas in your world...so it probably comes down to where you are situated in relation to the spawning pads. How far away are you standing from the spawning chambers when you're at the spawner? You need to be at least 24 blocks away before mobs will start to spawn. Similarly, if you're 128 blocks or more away then there won't be any mobs spawning in it at all because you won't be in range. It would also pay to check your difficulty, as you might be on peaceful - seems like a obvious thing to mention but ya never know. Why? Because **** you is why. |
stealthdragonX (Topic Creator)10 years ago#3 I bet i'm between 25-40 depending on the level, more than far enough. Not on peaceful either, but I did try going to peaceful for a couple minutes and back to despawn units further away. I know the spawner works just fine, like i said before i copy/pasted the exact spawner onto a superflat world and was getting good spawns from it. I'm just frustrated with it to the point I've basically stopped playing the game. |
zyrax2301 10 years ago#4 I occasionally have an issue with my mob spawners where the mobs just stop spawning in, which seems to be an issue with loaded chunks...to solve it I just leave the area and come back to it to get the chunks refresh and that tends to get it sorted. That might be it, but if that isn't the case and there's nothing wrong with the way your spawner is built I'm pretty much out of ideas. Why? Because **** you is why. |
stealthdragonX (Topic Creator)10 years ago#5 how far are we talking? i tried going to my tree farm/mine area which is about maybe 200+ blocks away and coming back, but not a single spawn again. |
zyrax2301 10 years ago#6 That would be far enough certainly, enough to unload the area completely. So...I dunno dude, sucks. Hopefully it will come right at some point but I can't think what else might be wrong with it. Why? Because **** you is why. |

zyrax2301 10 years ago#9 No mobs spawn naturally in Mushroom Island biomes except for Mooshrooms, so yeah - but that isn't the case. Still no luck with this? Dang man! Why? Because **** you is why. |
