Our local partners in Damascus have confirmed that we can now take bookings for Americans to travel to Syria on our group or private tours with a high chance that visas will be issued for travel. The visa process is exactly the same for Americans as it is for other nationalities, but potential American tourists should not consider that their visa will be granted automatically. Every facet of the visa process is taken care of by YPT.

How can Americans travel to Syria?

Americans that want to visit Syria essentially follow the same format and protocol as anyone else that wishes to visit Syria, with the general method of entry and exit being through Lebanon. It is also technically possible to fly into the country, although with the airports recently bombed, it is not a route we typically use.

Again though and as previously noted we do expect applications to take longer for American visitors to Syria.

Is it safe for Americans to visit Syria?

We have previously written about if it safe to travel to Syria (link), with the situation for American safety in the region being largely the same. Syrian people are extremely friendly and very much differentiate between American people in Syria and the American government and its actions towards Syria.

Ironically Assad held Syria would be a safer place for Americans to visit than the parts that are being supported by the US government currently.

When can Americans go to Syria?

We have already taken Anerican guests into Syria and overall they have tented to report having an amazing time in the country. As such Syria is very much open to business for American tourists.

We are obviously very excited about this news and will keep upping our Pioneers as information comes in and indeed becomes more clear. In the meantime we suggest looking through what we have to offer, and then booking your tour to Syria as an American with YPT!

Does America allow US Citizens to travel to Syria?

America makes no prohibitions on US citizens traveling to Syria, unlike Cuba and to a much larger extent North Korea.

Do though perhaps expect US border guards to be a bit wary of any American who has just been to Syria!

Americans in Syria – Middle-Easy Security Update

Despite the ongoing troubles in Palestine we feel that the tensions are unlikely to spill over overtly into Syria, although there is still potential for troubles in Lebanon and areas controlled by Hezbollah.

We do not though see this as increasing any kind of risk for American visitors to Syria, although it is a situation we are monitoring.
