Best Storage
The fridgeis the best place to store sauces.
Store your leftover homemade sauce in the fridge and use within a couple of days or freeze. For leftover shop-bought sauces it’s best to follow the storage guidance on the jar. If you have leftover sauce, seal the lid and store the jar in the fridge.
If you see mould on the surface, dispose all of the sauce as mould can penetrate underneath the surface and contaminate the entire container of sauce.
Can I Freeze It?
Yes.
If you’ve made too much sauce for a dish, pour the leftovers into an airtight container or freezer bag and freeze. Make sure to label the portion size to make it easier for future use. Defrost in the fridge and use it within 24 hours, or heat it up on the stove to use right away.
Fresher For Longer
Keep your leftover sauce free from contamination by packaging it in a sealed container and storing it at the back of the fridge. Both tomato and cream-based sauces are at risk of mould growth. If you see discoloration on the surface, discard the entire product, rather than trying to scoop out the mould.
Use It Up
Leftover sauces can be added straight from frozen to a wide range of dishes to add some extra flavour.
