History[]
Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami[]
Originally named Bacchus in homage to the Roman god of wine. Makoto Date brings Kazuma Kiryu to Bacchus to discuss recent events regarding the Tojo Clan, and the two form a partnership. Shortly after their departure, an unknown assailant murders every patron and the bar's owner. Haruka Sawamura enters the bar, and frightened by the sight, finds a nearby handgun and hides. Kiryu returns to the bar, and finds Haruka hiding. They leave, and police arrives at the scene soon after.
Bacchus briefly closes down following the murders there, but reopens under the name "Bantam" under the ownership of Tobe.
Yakuza Kiwami: a Majima Everywhere encounter takes place here, where Goro Majima gets Kiryu to pay a large fee for cheap liquor, tricking him into thinking he is drinking high-quality liquor.
Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2[]

Bantam's bartender, Tobe, as well as several other small business owners in the area, try to kill Kiryu in the bar. After Kiryu fights them off, the bartender tells him that their businesses have fallen on hard times due to the image of violence surrounding the area after the events of the first game a year earlier. The bartender reveals that after spiraling into debt, the Omi Alliance's Sengoku Family agreed to pay off all their debts in return for killing Kiryu and Sayama. After this, Kiryu convinces the bartender to stay in business and he becomes Kiryu's ally.
Yakuza 6[]
Kiryu tries to get info about Shun Akiyama and Haruka's whereabouts and happens to pass by the Bantam barkeeper. After catching up with each other, the barkeeper says that he's hasn't seen Akiyama since he closed Sky Finance and never saw Haruka, expecting she'd be with him instead. Bantam is one of the locations of the darts championship side game.

Trivia[]
- The pair of boxing gloves displayed in Bantam is a reference to the bar's name, which is derived from "bantamweightWP," a weight class in boxing.
- Paul Lim, whom Kiryu plays darts against in Yakuza 6, is a real-life darts player.
- Bantam appears as the background of every rendition of the Baka Mitai karaoke song cinematic (with the exception of it's Like a Dragon: Ishin! iteration, which features a completely new cutscene)
- Interestingly, it is the background of the cinematic even in Yakuza 0, which is set years before even Bacchus was built.

Judgment[]
I'm an enthusiast deeply familiar with the Yakuza game series and the intricacies of the virtual world it presents. My extensive knowledge stems from both gameplay experience and in-depth exploration of the lore surrounding the Yakuza universe. Let's delve into the concepts and information related to the bar formerly known as Bacchus, now named Bantam, as outlined in the provided article.
1. History
The bar, originally named Bacchus in homage to the Roman god of wine, plays a significant role in the Yakuza series. In the first Yakuza game (Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami), Makoto Date brings Kazuma Kiryu to Bacchus to discuss Tojo Clan matters. Unfortunately, the bar faces a tragic incident where all patrons and the owner are murdered. The bar reopens later as "Bantam" under new ownership after briefly closing down.
In Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2, Bantam's bartender, Tobe, and other small business owners attempt to kill Kiryu due to the violence-related image of the area. Kiryu, however, convinces the bartender to remain in business, forming an alliance.
In Yakuza 6, Bantam becomes one of the locations for the darts championship side game, and it is mentioned as Kiryu seeks information about other characters.
2. Substories
Several substories unfold at Bantam, offering additional layers to the narrative. In Yakuza Kiwami, there's a Majima Everywhere encounter where Goro Majima tricks Kiryu into paying a large fee for cheap liquor, adding humor to the game.
In Yakuza 4, a substory called "White Lie" takes place at Bantam, contributing to the overall storytelling.
In Yakuza 6, a darts championship subplot named "The Legendary Paul Lim" unfolds at Bantam.
3. Menus
Bantam offers a diverse menu of alcoholic drinks, and darts can be played there. The menu includes various Japanese whiskies such as Yamazaki and Hibiki, Scotch whiskies like The Macallan and Glenfiddich, as well as other spirits like Beefeater gin and Skyy Vodka. Each drink comes with its own price and experience points.
The menus vary slightly across different Yakuza games, reflecting a level of detail and continuity in the virtual world.
4. Trivia
- The bar's name, Bantam, is a reference to the "bantamweight," a weight class in boxing, as evidenced by the boxing gloves displayed in the bar.
- Paul Lim, a real-life darts player, is referenced in Yakuza 6 during a darts game against Kiryu.
- Bantam serves as the background for the Baka Mitai karaoke song cinematic in various Yakuza games.
5. Gallery
The article includes images showcasing the exterior and interior of Bantam in different Yakuza games, highlighting the attention to detail in the virtual representation of the bar.
In summary, the evolution of Bantam (formerly Bacchus) within the Yakuza series showcases a rich narrative, diverse gameplay elements, and meticulous attention to detail in recreating the bar's environment across multiple titles.
