The winner of the first season won the grand prize of $100,000, gets an opportunity have one of their creations in Zumbo's stores and finally the title of "Zumbo's Just Desserts Winner". The show is hosted by Adriano Zumbo and Rachel Khoo, with Gigi Falanga as assistant. The winner was 37 year old Kate Ferguson.

In August of 2018, sources reported that Adriano's business had entered voluntary administration with debts amassing to about $10 million. The financial collapse became too much for the Zumbo, even forcing him to sell his $1.7 million home, according to AFR.

Couldn't believe they made an entire season to end it up with a rigged winner. This season was definitely rigged, Katherine was amazing but on one episode she completely missed the element she was made the winner when she should've been bottom 2.
