What is a Diamond award in dance?
Choreography Awards are presented at each regional event, called the Diamond Choreography Awards. They are presented to the choreographers with the top scores, both in Solo and in Duo – Production, in 12 & under and 13 & over.
Platinum is awarded to groups earning 285-300 points, High gold for 270-284 points, gold for255-269 points and high silver for 240-254 points. More importantly, while the judges watch the girls perform, they are each speaking into a microphone, giving corrections, suggestions and praise about the performance.
Most competitions hold a competition within the competition called “Title”. The title competition involves solo dancers competing in a separate category with a routine that will be judged against only the other entries in the title category. The winner in each age division is awarded the “title” of Miss or Mr.
New Level placement based on simple point system for each dancer: Sapphire = 1 point; Ruby = 2 points; Diamond = 3 points. IV. Scoring Within Each Level of Competition is Awarded As Follows: Elite (294-300); Platinum (282-293.9); High Gold (270- 281.9); and Gold (255-269.9).
HIGH GOLD RANKINGS – Each dancer that scores 98% or higher is also awarded a HIGH GOLD. If you are by yourself, or competing against others, you strive not only to get a first place score (29.2 or higher), but you also dance to score a first place HIGH GOLD (29.5 or higher).

Platinum, Gold, and Silver Award Pins will be awarded based on the combined scores from three judges as follows: Elite Platinum — 293-300 points, Platinum — 285-292.9 points, Elite Gold — 279-284.9 points, Gold — 270-278.9 points, Elite Silver — 269.9 points or lower.
Dance competitions are judged based on a variety of criteria, including a dancer's age, level, technique, performance quality, choreography, and presentation. All dance competitions have a different rubric for scoring, but a judge will always take these things into consideration when adjudicating.
Double Platinum: 285-300.

National Title Information is given at the Regional Competition to Soloist Awarded Regional Title Finalist along with a $25.00 Scholarship toward the total Titles Entry Fee. You do not have to be awarded a Regional Title Finalist to participate as long as solo score qualifies the dancer.

If a routine has received a Sapphire or Emerald award and is registered to compete in an additional Aspire competition, it is eligible to move to a lower skill level at the next competition during the same season.
Dance schools bring their students to compete. Judges, usually dance teachers or choreographers, score each piece on the spot, often out of 100 points. At the end of the day, winners receive titles and trophies. Sometimes there are small cash awards or gift cards.
The Stage. The Dance Awards' main stage will be 47' wide by 30' deep. There will also be ample wing space in addition to the width.
National Contestants compete in Interview, Class, an On Stage Introduction, and Solo Routine. All National Title Information will be posted on the “Titles” page before the Regional Season begins.
Platinum, Elite High Gold, High Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be given out during each competition. This adjudication is assigned by the overall score a routine receives based on the following point system: PLATINUM: 300-285. ELITE HIGH GOLD: 284.9-270. HIGH GOLD: 269.9-255.

A winning routine should also be short and sweet. For a solo routine, Vamosi recommends a piece be no longer than two minutes and 20 seconds.
