What does high boiler mean?
A high pressure boiler is a type of boiler that operates at 80 bars or higher and is used in thermal power plants to generate power. Using water-filled tubes in a metal tank or enclosure, they create power by converting water into steam through thermal energy, which is used to power equipment.
By definition, high pressure boilers are built to a maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) above 15 psig, while low pressure boilers are designed for operation at 15 psig or below.
Is high boiler pressure dangerous? No, it's not normally dangerous. The heating system is protected by a boiler pressure relief valve (PRV). This boiler pressure valve prevents damage by letting water escape – sometimes via a small pipe through the external wall near the boiler – when there's too much pressure.
High boiler pressure isn't dangerous, even if it's showing as three bar on the pressure gauge. In most cases, the boiler will turn itself off if the pressure goes about a certain level and a working PRV should successfully control the pressure, preventing it from getting too high.
If your boiler pressure reads less than 1 bar, you might have lost water from the system, and this will need to be replaced. If it's above 2.75 bar, that's a sign of high pressure – and the best way of bringing that down is to bleed a radiator.
For a modern combi boiler, the radiator heating temperature should be set for a flow temperature of between 60 and 70°C. Any higher than this and the boiler won't enter condensing mode and be at its optimum efficiency and performance.
All boilers are more efficient when the return temperature is low, and this can save you energy and money.
Some modern heating systems have pressure relief valves, but you shouldn't rely on that. High pressure is rarely the reason for a boiler explosion, but various other reasons such as faulty internal parts can cause it.
The dangers of an excessively high water level in a steam boiler include: Increased carryover of water into the steam will result in poor operation and/or malfunction of the steam system components, due to dirt. Wet and dirty steam can contaminate or spoil the product where it is used directly.
If your boiler is leaking, you should check the pressure gauge to see if the pressure is too high. If this is the case, it's likely that the pressure relief valve (PRV) is trying to release some of the water in the system to bring the pressure back down to a comfortable level.
What makes a boiler high pressure?
The division of megapascal pressure (MPa) determines whether a boiler is low and high pressure. Boilers that produce pressure above 80 MPa are considered to be high pressure. Low pressure boilers have a MPa below 80 MPa. Water circulation can be forced or natural.

In order to identify the problem, have a look at your pressure gauge when your boiler is OFF. The reading should not be above 1.5 bar; if it is, then you have an issue with high pressure.
If you have a conventional boiler system, your water cylinder will have its own thermostat. This is usually fitted on the side of the tank. You should set the temperature between 60 and 65 °C but for maximum efficiency, it should be set to around 60 °C.

Is it common for boilers to explode?

Carbon monoxide is a gas produced in a boiler when fuel is not burned completely due to a lack of oxygen. Common symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include dizziness, headaches and shortness of breath. A stuttering pilot light or dark staining around gas appliances is a sign of carbon monoxide leaks.
Boiler leaking can be an emergency depending on the underlying issue and the severity of the problem. If the boiler has gas leaks, always consider it an emergency, and you should treat it as such.
Small leaks of water could mean you need to top up your boiler pressure. The pressure relief valve could be releasing extra pressure. The heat exchanger – the important part of your boiler where cold water is warmed up with hot gas – could be damaged.
The boiler's water line is surging. Dirty water, a too-high pH, overfiring and improper near-boiler piping can all cause the boiler's water line to surge up and down. How to lower water pressure?

1 — Draining the boiler
Perform a bottom blow-off on the boiler before and then after shutdown to remove sediment and scale and to drop the unit's pressure and temperature. Once the unit is at zero psi gage pressure and water temperature is under 140°F, open an air vent and boiler drain to empty the boiler.

Simply ignoring the problem is not going to help as you could shorten the lifespan of your boiler. Heating your home while the pressure is low will also make the central heating system work harder which uses up more energy and ramps up the energy bills.
Bear in mind, you don't have to keep your heating at a high-temperature setting while you are gone. Turn your thermostat down between 15°C and 18°C degrees to maintain the warmth of your home at a cost-efficient level. Present-day temperature regulators are the best tools to guarantee ideal comfort.
