Okay, so we told you that Wendy's uses its leftover hamburger patties to make its chili, but how does that work, exactly? When a Wendy's chef makes a hamburger patty, it will stay fresh for a little while. However, if they make too many and leave them sitting out for too long, the meat will start to dry out.

If you order a chili at Wendy's, you'll get a serving of silicon dioxide, otherwise known as sand, alongside your beans and meat. Supposedly, sand is used as an anti-caking agent, allowing Wendy's to preserve the chili for longer without having it clump up.

Like all of Wendy's other salads, it's made with a base of fresh-cut lettuce. It's then topped with sliced grilled chicken, diced red and green apples, dried cranberries, feta cheese, brown sugar walnuts, and Applewood smoked bacon.
Does Wendy's use pink slime?
Wendy's decided to post the ads after receiving “many questions from customers and online communities,” spokesman Bob Bertini said in an email. “We felt it was important to set the record straight. We are very proud of our beef, and have never used lean finely textured beef, or 'pink slime. '”
What is “pink slime?” “Pink slime” is a colloquial term for Lean Finely Textured Beef (LFTB). LFTB refers to smaller pieces of lean meat that are added to ground beef to produce a leaner product utilizing as much of meat from an animal as possible. The term “pink slime” was not developed by the food industry.
Chef Jamie Oliver injects "pink slime" into the lexicon in an episode of his TV show, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, blasting its use as a food additive. A USDA microbiologist is credited with coining the term. McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Burger King announce they no longer use pink slime in their menu items.
It's pretty good for you. Cheese or not, the Wendy's baked potato is one of its healthiest menu items. The plain version has just 270 calories; it's also an excellent source of fiber, potassium, iron and even protein.
The Wendy's chili recipe consists of a chili base, tomatoes, sugar, green peppers, onions, ground beef and pinto and kidney beans. A small Wendy's chili is about 250 calories, 10 grams of fat, over 20 grams of carbs and 15 grams of protein.
In fact, Wendy's baked potatoes aren't just available with a la carte additions, but, according to the website, are sold in five standard varieties as of 2022. Aside from the classic plain baked potato, the standard menu options include cheese, sour cream and chives, chili and cheese, and bacon and cheese.
“Are Wendy's hamburgers really fresh?” Yes, Wendy's hamburgers are all really fresh. They start with fresh never frozen beef and then are prepared fresh when you order them. There's nothing that tastes more delicious than a hamburger made with fresh beef served hot off the grill, and that's why we do it that way.
