Does Purdue Pharma still exist? Purdue Pharma will continue to operate until its bankruptcy plan is finalized. Once that happens, the company will become Knoa Pharma, LLC. The National Opioid Abatement trust will own that company, and its board will be selected by Purdue Pharma's creditors.

Purdue and its subsidiaries decided to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which will help restructure the company, remove the company's founding family and restrict where and how Purdue Pharma can do business moving forward.
Factoring in the fines that the Sacklers have already paid as settlements, we estimate that the family — composed of about 40 members — is now worth about $10.8 billion. Much of that comes from profits that the family received from Purdue Pharma between 2008 and 2017.
