Anyone who is a senior in education and official rank would be called 'Sir' in the first place. Again, anyone who inspires and is exceptionally well in his/her area of expertise can also be called 'Sir'.
Don't be afraid to call someone sir as it will ease your work and give room for further closer communication. If you are in sales, you can always call your client as 'Sir' so that you can build the required impression and get your business done smoothly.
Also, give room to your juniors that they open up before you, call you sir at times, and believe in your ideology. You should be able to resolve all their queries with dignity and establish your position as a coach or as a sir or madam.
There is nothing wrong in being called sir or call someone as sir as long as the definition of sir or madam is properly understood. But never mind, this should again not be a matter of ego, revenge, or stupidity, rather it is a matter of trust, love, and care.
One more thing from my personal experience is that I involve myself in many areas, like poetry, music, finance, machine learning, self-help, and teaching as well. So, it is quite natural that I call many teachers and trainers as my sir and this is by far the most practical approach through which I learn so many things from my friends who are also my guru or sir. I would like to say thanks to all my coaches, seniors, or friends who have given me a life lesson.
