The population is defined as the total number of persons living in a community and Details about their age, sex, etc.
According to the growth chart, the population is of 5 different types –
- Early fluctuating type – Here the number of young people is maximum with a low or very less number of old people. This means the population is in high growth rate.
- Early Expanding type – Here the population is growing steadily, with death rate very low and high birth rate.
- Intermediate expanding type – Here the death rate is still lower than the birth rate, but difference is not that much. It means population maintains a steady number.
- Low Fluctuating type – here the death rate is higher than that of birth rate and the number is decreasing.
- Natural decrease – it means the population is decreasing at a high rate, with approximately no birth and a high death rate.
