The Victoria Police Department disrupted two significant drug operations last week after lengthy investigations.
A 31-year-old Saanich man police describe as a "kingpin" in a dial-a-dope operation was arrested April 11 in his home in the 4000-block of Glanford Ave.
A 32-year-old woman and her 33-year-old boyfriend, both from Sooke, were also arrested in connection with the investigation in the 3100-block of Douglas St. at a Denny's restaurant.
Inside the couple's vehicle, police found $11,000 worth of drugs including heroin and about seven ounces of crack cocaine, said Insp. Brian Fox.
The couple had just dropped off their child at school and had their infant child with them at the time of the arrest, he said.
“We have busted this operation three times before, but this is the first time we’ve been able to get to the man in charge,” Fox said. Police also seized four vehicles.
The Saanich man faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, while the Sooke suspects both face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
On Friday, VicPD executed a search warrant on a second operation in the 2500-block of Graham St.
Inside, police found a cache of weapons and stolen property along with drug paraphernalia, said Const. Mike Russell.
"There were various knives, swords, throwing stars, pepper spray and also a replica handgun," Russell said. A significant amount of drugs were also recovered, including cocaine, heroin, GHB and methamphetamine, he added.
A 39-year-old Victoria man was arrested inside the residence.
Police thanked residents in the community for providing key information about the property, which Fox said was being used as a stolen property stash house for some time.
