The soda, pop and co*ke Civil War continues to rage in America and the Mason-Dixon line lies in Upstate New York.
That's because in Rochester, Buffalo and the rest of Western New York, the sweet, carbonated drink is typically called a pop. In the rest of the state, it's a soda.
The debate has hit such a fever pitch that websites, like the aptly named www.popvssoda.com, were created just to answer this question.
According to Pop vs. Soda, in Onondaga County, 821 of 860 voters said they call it soda, compared with 16 who said pop and 13 who call it co*ke.
But head an hour and a half down the Thruway to Rochester, where you'll find that about two-thirds of Monroe County residents call it pop.
The pop proliferation is even stronger in Buffalo. In Erie County, 91 percent of residents go for pop.
