Can I use my Rogers plan in the USA? ›

Use your phone like you do at home when roaming with Roam Like Home in over 185 international destinations. You can also enjoy unlimited calling, texting and data across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico with Rogers 5G Infinite Premium plans.

Re: International Roaming

Go into the Network settings of your phone and choose "Rogers" instead of "Auto". When you do want to roam when outside of Canada, simply switch the Network back to "Auto". It's the same with all providers, it's the setting in your phone that you need to have correct.

Option 3: Rely on Wi-Fi Only. You can avoid paying all international roaming fees by keeping your phone in airplane mode and sticking with whatever free Wi-Fi you can find, or by renting a Wi-Fi pod.

If you have a Canada/US monthly plan or have Roam Better already enabled as a feature attached to your plan, then yes, you'll be able to roam without any issue in the US.

The Roam Like Home daily rate is equal to the destination's pay-per-use data rate, so any data usage will result in the same charge. Incoming text messages are free, but sending a text message will also lead to a charge; if it's over 160 characters, it may send as a MMS which uses data as well.

Travel Pack or other roaming add-on

All outgoing WiFi calls or messages to a non-Canadian number will be deducted from the limit included in your Travel Pack or roaming add-on. If you exceed your limit, overage rates outlined in your Travel Pack or roaming add-on will apply.

Turning off data roaming on your phone prevents it from connecting to other cellular networks. You won't be able to browse the Internet unless you connect to a Wi-Fi network, but you'll still be able to call and text. However, extra charges will apply if your plan does not include calling and texting while travelling.

Rely On Wi-Fi

You can connect to their network and call, text, and use data without incurring roaming charges. However, you need to stay within the Wi-Fi coverage area to maintain service, and you can't be sure you're connecting to a secure network. Plus, you're out of luck when traveling between hotspots.

For SMS, most operators do not charge for receiving an SMS while roaming, in much the same way as there is usually no charge for receiving an SMS at home. How does SMS and data roaming work? SMS and data roaming build upon the same principles used to enable voice roaming.

Putting your phone on airplane mode stops all cellular activity, effectively preventing roaming charges. However, it also disconnects you from vital communications.

@Demirs : Due to rights restrictions, you cannot watch any recordings or Rogers programming outside of Canada.

Reach out to your wireless provider and authorize daily roaming to the U.S., and all you have to do after that is use your device while travelling. Your phone automatically connects to an American cellular partner, and you can use your wireless data or make a call anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
