What is not covered by Travel Basic travel insurance?

However, the Travel Basic plan only has a 60 day look back period for pre-existing medical conditions from the effective date of your plan. You may be eligible to receive a pre-existing condition exclusion waiver on our Travel Select and Travel America plans.

Additionally, Travel Basic does not include Sporting Equipment Delay coverage. This particular benefit is available in the Travel Select plan only.

Finally, the optional plan upgrades of Adventure Sports, Additional Medical Coverage and Cancel For Any Reason are not available on the Travel Basic plan — only the Travel Select plan.

It is important to note that travel insurance won’t cover events that were reasonably foreseeable, and you must always take steps to reduce risk on your journey. Policies will not cover claims arising as a result of intoxication or being under the influence of drugs. See your policy for a full list of exclusions and limitations.

How do I file a claim with my Travel Basic travel insurance plan?

This process is used for filing claims no matter which Travelex plan you’ve purchased.

On the Travelex Insurance website, select “Claims” under the “Customer Service” tab at the top of the page. Continue by choosing your insurance plan and entering the product plan number in the space provided. Once you are finished following all the prompts, please select submit to begin the claims process.

This process is used for filing claims no matter if you’ve purchased a Travel Basic or Travel Select policy.

If I have a pre-existing medical condition, will it be covered by Travel Basic?

The Travel Basic plan does not include coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that would have prompted a reasonable person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment within the 60 days prior to and including your effective date. If you would like to receive coverage for a pre-existing medical condition, consider our Travel Select or Travel America plans.

For more details on coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, call our Customer Solutions department at 1-800-228-9792, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST.

Is the “early purchase benefit” automatically included in the Travel Basic plan?

Yes, but only if you purchase a Travel Basic plan within 15 days of the initial trip payment. If you do, the coverage for financial default will be included in your plan
