Despite how fun it may look at times, being a member of the royal family is actually quite tricky. I mean, you've seen The Crown, right? There are all sorts of rules and regulations that the royal family have to follow that can make their lives far more complicated. In particular, there are loads of food etiquette rules that the royal family have to abide by, including a load of delicious food and drink the Queen and the rest of the royals can't have.
So, here are 11 foods the royal family are not allowed to eat. Poor loves.
1
Crusts
The Queen is a big fan of sandwiches, but she much prefers them with the crusts cut off. Former royal chef, Owen Hodgson, told The Telegraph: “A chef told me off for serving the sandwiches with crusts."
And, in case you were wondering, Queen Elizabeth's favourite sarnie is tuna mayo. She likes them made with thin slices of cucumber, and a dash of pepper. Oh, and both bits of bread well buttered.
2
Garlic
It's a well-known fact that the royal family, and the Queen in particular, do not eat garlic.
No, they're not vampires (as far as we know...), it's simply because they're constantly meeting and chatting to people, so it's best not to have stinky breath. Camilla Parker Bowles confirmed this when she appeared on MasterChef Australia a couple of years ago. When asked what the royals won't eat, Camilla said, "I hate to say this, but garlic. Garlic is a no-no."
MasterChef judge Gary Mehigan asked her if garlic wasn't allowed "because you're talking, and chatting all the time," to which she replied, "Yes, exactly. So you always have to lay off the garlic."
3
Onions
Same goes for onions - the royals can't have stinkin' onion breath when they're meeting new people every day.

Out-of-season fruits and vegetables
The Queen is a real stickler for only eating fruits and vegetables that are in season at the time.
The Queen's former chef Darren McGrady told RecipesPlus, “You can send strawberries every day to the Queen during summer at Balmoral and she'll never say a word. Try including strawberries on the menu in January and she'll scrub out the line and say don't dare send me genetically modified strawberries.”
5
Rare meat
The Queen is not a fan of rare meat. In fact, when she has her roast lamb Easter lunch, she has the outer bits of meat as they're the most well-done pieces. Darren told OK magazine, "The Queen likes her meat well-done so she’d always have the first two slices."
Plus, ya know... she is the Queen.
6
Pasta
The royal family very rarely eat pasta. In fact, it's only really served on special occasions or at dinner parties. Apparently, it's all to do with it being too starchy and filling, and the Queen's simply not into that.

7
Rice
The same goes for rice. There will very rarely be rice dishes served to the royals.
8
Potatoes
And potatoes. Potatoes are a no-go unless there's a roast on the royal table.
9
White eggs
The Queen starts every day with an egg for breakfast. But she would never choose to eat white eggs. Brown eggs taste far better as far as she's concerned. And, seeing as she's the Queen, if she doesn't want to eat white eggs, she shouldn't have to eat white eggs.

10
Tap water abroad
The royal family are always advised to avoid tap water when they're abroad. This precaution is in place to avoid them getting any kind of bug, which might make them sick and mean they can't partake in their royal engagements.
11
Shellfish
Another way for the royal family to avoid getting ill is by saying no to any shellfish dishes. As delicious as shellfish is, it can all-too-easily be cook wrong and you can get ill from it if you're not careful.
