Items containing incapacitating substances such as gas guns, tear gas sprays, mace, CS gas, phosphorus, acid and other dangerous chemicals that could be used to maim or disable. Any quantity of inflammable substances, including empty canisters e.g. petrol, methylated spirits, paint thinners.

Prohibited or restricted items may include meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, seeds, soil and products made from animal or plant materials.

Also, anything you bring back that you did not have when you left the United States must be "declared." For example, you would declare alterations made in a foreign country to a suit you already owned, and any gifts you acquired outside the United States.

All travelers entering the United States are Required to Declare meats, fruits, vegetables, plants, seeds, soil, animals, as well as plant and animal products (including soup or soup products) they may be carrying. The declaration must cover all items carried in checked baggage, carry-on luggage, or in a vehicle.

Restriction can take the form of no food intake, eating minimal amounts of food, only eating specific foods, eating in specific amounts or fasting for large portions of the day. Prolonged food restriction often leads to malnutrition, which impacts every organ system and can cause a variety of medical complications.

Solid food items (not liquids or gels) can be transported in either your carry-on or checked bags. Liquid or gel food items larger than 3.4 oz are not allowed in carry-on bags and should be placed in your checked bags if possible.

Prohibited products are strictly forbidden to be imported into that country because they are considered to be dangerous, illegal, or carry health, security, or environmental risks. Restricted products are not prohibited outright, but may be imported if they comply with additional regulations.

Regulated (restricted) goods are goods that are controlled by an import or export permit. These permits regulate either the quality or quantity of the goods.

Meat and Poultry

This category generally isn't allowed, whether it's cooked, dried, cured, frozen or a meat-based dried soup mix. Canned meat is the one exception that is sometimes permitted, but with additional exceptions: it can't be lamb or goat, or come from countries with Mad Cow Disease—including Canada.

As long as you declare all the agricultural products you are bringing with you, you will not face any penalties—even if an inspector determines that they cannot enter the country. Tea or spices containing fruit or vegetable leaves or seeds, including citrus leaves or seeds, are typically prohibited.
