Pets (2024)

Pets were released in the Summer Update of June 2019; however, the "Pets" section of the backpack was added long before that. Hatching Eggs is the main way of unlocking pets and operate similarly to Gifts but require being taken care of to hatch. Players can also buy specific pets using Robux or event currencies. Pets can also be favorited by selecting them and clicking the star button while having the pet selected.

Players who enter the Nursery for the first time will receive a free Starter Egg from Sir Woofington, which is only able to hatch into a Cat or a Dog.

Types of Pets

Rarity

There are 5 main rarities in which pets, just like other items, are classified in: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare, and Legendary. The type of pet players hatch from eggs depend on luck. Usually the more expensive an egg is, the greater the chance players have of hatching rarer pets. Currently, there are 82 total pets players can hatch from eggs.

Another less common pet rarity is Event, these pets are temporary pets that are removed from all inventories after period of time. The three event pets as of now are Scoob, Pumpkin (Pet), and 2D Kitty. Event pets age as fast as common pets are classified with common pets in the inventory. Although the Pet Rock was a temporary pet that was removed from inventories after a period of time, it was an uncommon pet.

Pet subcategories

There are many more categories pets can also be classed in, such as Robux Pets, event-exclusive Pets and limited Egg Pets. These categories indicate the source or method of obtaining the pets. Players can only get a Safari Pet like a Flamingo from the Safari Eggs; likewise, they can only get a Jungle Pet, such as a Parrot from Jungle Eggs and this rule applies to every other limited Egg.

Below is a table indicating every pet in the game classed by their rarity as well as their type.

The Blue Dog can only be hatched from a Blue Egg, and the Pink Cat can only be hatched from a Pink Egg. The Rat and Golden Rat can only be obtained from Rat Boxes that could be purchased during the Lunar New Year (2020) event. The Chick can only be hatched from the Easter 2020 Egg. The Ox, Lunar Ox and Metal Ox can only be obtained from Ox Boxes that could be purchased during the Lunar New Year (2021) event. The Lunar Tiger, Lunar White Tiger and Lunar Gold Tiger can only be obtained from Lunar Tiger Boxes that can be purchased during the Lunar New Year (2022) event. The Zodiac Minion Chick can only be hatched from the Zodiac Minion Egg during the event.

Gamepass Pets

The pets in the Pet Shop that cost Robux are available all year round. This includes the Sloth, Winged Horse, and Royal Palace Spaniel. The Horse, the Griffin, and the Robo Dog left the game on January 6, 2022. The Guardian Lion and the Peaco*ck left the game on March 30, 2023. The Panda, Kitsune, Cerberus, Red Squirrel, and Axolotl left the game on May 18, 2023.

Events

Halloween and Christmas Events

During the Christmas and Halloween events, players could also get pets by collecting a currency. The currency was Candy (Currency) for Halloween and Gingerbread for Christmas.

Halloween (2019)

During the Halloween Event (2019), players could get Zombie Buffalos, Evil Unicorns, and Bat Dragons for Candy, meanwhile they could get Shadow Dragons for 1,000 each.

Halloween (2020)

During the Halloween Event (2020), players could obtain the Bat and Albino Bat from Bat Boxes. They could also obtain the Ghost Bunny and Skele-Rex for candy. The Cerberus was also introduced and costed 600. Finally, the Pumpkin (Pet) could be obtained by playing the Pumpkin Smash mini-game during the event, however it left players' inventories after the event ended.

Christmas (2019)

During the Christmas Event (2019), players could buy a Christmas Gift or Golden Gift with Gingerbread and open it. If they unboxed a Christmas Egg, they could then hatch the egg into a Robin, Wolf, Polar Bear, Swan, Arctic Fox, or an Arctic Reindeer. Players could also use Gingerbread to buy a Shrew and Elf Hedgehog (Hedgehog), or spend 1,000 for the Frost Dragon or 250 for a Santa Dog (Dalmatian).

During the 25th day on the Advent Calendar (Christmas Day), players could claim a normal Reindeer.

Winter Holiday (2020)

During the Winter Holiday (2020), players could purchase the Snowman, Lynx, Musk Ox, Yeti, and Snow Owl with Gingerbread, which was the event's currency. Players could also purchase the Frost Fury for 800 each.

Monkey Fairground Event

When the Monkey Fairground update was released, players could get a Monkey from Monkey Boxes, which are classified as Gifts. There was a chance of getting an Albino Monkey from Premium Monkey Boxes, which cost 195.

Ages & Tricks

Once the egg hatches, players can continue fulfilling its needs to age it up. Each stage of the pet's life offers new tricks. The Rock, Penguin, Crow, Golden Penguin, Llama, Parrot, Sloth, all Bees, Arctic Reindeer, Reindeer, Pet Rock, Scoob, Shadow Dragon, Frost Dragon, Elf Hedgehog (Hedgehog), Kangaroo, Turtle, and Monkey have special tricks that are different than other pets.

Special Pet Items

Ride-A-Pet Potion

Pets can be made permanently rideable if they are given a Ride-A-Pet Potion. This Ride-A-Pet Potion is available for 150; it can be bought through the 'Shop' menu or inside the Sky Castle. Players must buy a potion for every single pet that they want to make permanently rideable.

If a parent is riding a pet, the pet will grow bigger to accommodate the parent's size. If a baby is riding the pet, the pet will stay at its normal size.

Pets can be made permanently flyable (allowing the player to sit on the pet and fly it) if they are given a Fly-A-Pet Potion. This potion is available for 295; it can be bought through the 'Shop' menu or inside the Sky Castle. Players must buy a potion for every single pet that they want to make permanently flyable; both Fly-A-Pet and Ride-A-Pet Potions can be used on the same pet to make the pet flyable and rideable.

If a pet is in flying mode, it will grow white wings with a pink trail, unless its original state had wings (such as the Robin, Crow, Shadow Dragon, Parrot, etc.), which it will use as its "flying" wings. The Arctic Reindeer, Pet Rock, Reindeer, Ghost Bunny and Frost Fury pets do not need wings to fly and as such, don't gain any.

Neon Pets

As of July 13, 2019, it is possible to get Neon pets. In order to do so, players must place four fully-grown pets of the same type into the slots in the Neon Cave located under the main bridge. They will combine to create one neon pet, a special variation of the pet in which some of its parts glow a special color. All pets can be made neon, except non-tradable pets like the Scoob, Pumpkin (Pet), Pet Rock, and 2D Kitty.

To make a Neon pet rideable or flyable, players will either only need one rideable/flyable pet for it, or they can alternatively feed it a Ride-A-Pet Potion or Fly-A-Pet Potion after turning them into a Neon pet.

Mega Neon Pet

Mega Neon Pets are pets in Adopt Me! that were released on April 17, 2020. To get a Mega Neon pet, a player must place four fully-grown Neon pets of the same type into the slots in the Neon Cave located under the main bridge. These pets will then combine to create a Mega Neon Pet. These pets glow rainbow (changing colors gradually). All pets (except the Scoob, Pet Rock, Pumpkin (Pet), and 2D Kitty) can become a Mega Neon.

Players only need 1 out of 16 pets to be fly and ride to create a fly ride Mega Neon pet. Players can also feed the pet a Ride-A-Pet Potion or a Fly-A-Pet Potion after they transform it.

Golden Goldfish

The Golden Goldfish costs 225 and it is used to tame a King Penguin. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of obtaining a Diamond King Penguin, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a Golden King Penguin, and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of taming a regular King Penguin.

Before July 14, 2022, players could obtain a Penguin or a Golden Penguin using the Golden Goldfish. Players had a 1 in 10 (10%) chance of taming a Golden Penguin; the other 9 out of 10 (90%) chance of taming a normal Penguin.

Honey

Main article: Honey

As with Golden Goldfish, players can use Honey to tame a Bee. It costs 199. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of taming a Queen Bee, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a King Bee and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of obtaining a regular Bee.

Diamond Lavender

Main article: Diamond Lavender

Similar to the Golden Goldfish and Honey, players can use Diamond Lavender to tame a Ladybug. It costs 199. Players have a 1 in 40 (2.5%) chance of taming a Diamond Ladybug, a 4 in 40 (10%) chance of obtaining a Golden Ladybug and a 35 in 40 (87.5%) chance of obtaining a regular Ladybug.

Rat Box

In the Lunar New Year (2020) event, players could purchase a Rat Box for 345 at the Lunar New Year Platform. Players have a 14 in 15 (93.33%) chance of getting a Rat and a 1 in 15 (6.66%) chance of getting a Golden Rat.

In the Halloween Event (2020) event, players could purchase a Bat Box for 1,000 in the Halloween Shop. Players have a 4 in 5 (80%) chance of getting a Bat and a 1 in 5 (20%) chance of getting an Albino Bat.

Ox Box

During the Lunar New Year (2021) event, players could purchase an Ox Box for 350 at the Lunar New Year Platform. Players have a 6 in 10 (60%) chance of getting an Ox and a 3 in 10 (30%) chance of getting a Lunar Ox and a 1 in 10 (10%) chance of getting a Metal Ox from an Ox Box.

Halloween Mummy Cat Box

During the Halloween Event (2021) event, players could purchase a Halloween Mummy Cat Box for 600 in the Halloween Shop. Players have a 70% chance of getting a Halloween Black Mummy Cat, a 25% chance of getting a Halloween White Mummy Cat and a 5% chance of getting a Halloween Golden Mummy Cat.

Walrus Box

In the Winter Holiday (2021) event, players could purchase a Walrus Box for 15,000. Players have a 70% chance of getting a Walrus, a 26% chance of getting a Summer Walrus, and a 4% chance of getting a Golden Walrus from a Walrus Box.

Mud Ball

Main article: Mud Ball

Players can use the Mud Ball to tame a Scarab. It costs 199 and was available for 36 hours during the Desert Weather Map Update, but the Desert Shop will return on the 15th of each month for 36 hours. Players have a 2.5% chance of taming a Giant Gold Scarab, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Giant Blue Scarab, and a 60% chance of obtaining a regular Giant Black Scarab from a Mud Ball. According to its description, players must be in the Desert Shop to use it.

Lunar Tiger Box

During the Lunar New Year (2022) event, players could purchase a Lunar Tiger Box for 350 at the Lunar New Year Stand. Players have a 60% chance of getting a Lunar Tiger and a 30% chance of getting a Lunar White Tiger and a 10% chance of getting a Lunar Gold Tiger from a Lunar Tiger Box.

Golden Clam

Similar to the Mud Ball, players can use Golden Clam to tame an Albatross. Players have a 2.5% chance of taming a Diamond Albatross, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Golden Albatross, and a 60% chance of obtaining a regular Albatross from a Golden Clam. According to its description, players must be in the Snowy Igloo Shop to use it.

Players could purchase a Golden Leaf for 199 in the Butterfly Sanctuary. Players have a 60% chance of obtaining an Orange Butterfly, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Green Butterfly, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Butterfly from a Golden Leaf.

Golden Bone

Players can purchase a Golden Bone for 249 in the VIP Room. Players have a 77.5% chance of obtaining a Tan Chow-Chow, a 10% chance of obtaining a Chocolate Chow-Chow, a 10% chance of obtaining a Black Chow-Chow, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Golden Chow-Chow from a Golden Bone.

Golden Wheat

Similar to the Mud Ball and Golden Clam, players can use Golden Wheat to tame a Pheasant. It costs 199 and was available for 36 hours during the Fall Weather Update, but the Fall Shop will return on the 20th of each month for 36 hours. Players can purchase a Golden Wheat for 199 in the Fall Shop. Players have a 60% chance of obtaining a Brown-Chested Pheasant, a 37.5% chance of obtaining a Green-Chested Pheasant, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Black-Chested Pheasant from a Golden Wheat.

Wolf Box

Players could purchase a Wolf Box for 14,000 in the Halloween Shop during the Halloween Event (2022). Players can either receive a Ghost Wolf at an 87.5% chance, Zombie Wolf at a 10% chance, or Lava Wolf at a 2.5% chance from a Wolf Box.

Pony Box

Players could purchase a Pony Box for 14,000 in the Candy Castle during the Winter Event (2022). When opening a Pony Box, there is an 87.5% chance to get a rare Shetland Pony Dark Brown, a 10% chance to get an ultra-rare Shetland Pony White, and a 2.5% chance to get a legendary Shetland Pony Light Brown.

Moon Bear Box

During the Lunar New Year (2023) event, players could purchase a Moon Bear Box for 300 at the Lunar New Year Stand. When opening the Moon Bear Box, players have a 60% chance to obtain a Black Moon Bear, a 10% chance to obtain a Lunar Moon Bear, and a 30% chance to obtain a Water Moon Bear.

Golden Plantain

Players can use Golden Plantain to tame an Amazon bird. It costs 199 and was available for 36 hours during the Rain Weather Update, but the Rain Pet Shop will return on the 23rd of each month for 36 hours. Players can purchase a Golden Plantain for 199 in the Rain Pet Shop. Players have an 87.5% chance of obtaining a Green Amazon, a 10% chance of obtaining a White Amazon, and a 2.5% chance of obtaining a Diamond Amazon from a Golden Plantain.

Hermit Crab Box

Players could purchase a Hermit Crab Box for 12,000 in the Summer Shop during the Summer Festival (2023). When opening a Hermit Crab Box, there is a 60% chance of obtaining an uncommon Hermit Crab, a 25% chance of obtaining a rare Castle Hermit Crab, a 10% chance of obtaining an ultra-rare Ice Cream Hermit Crab, and a 5% chance of obtaining a legendary Pirate Hermit Crab.

Wrapped Doll

Players could purchase a Wrapped Doll for 900. When opening the Wrapped Doll, players have a 33% chance to obtain Dylan, a 33% chance to obtain River, and a 33% chance to obtain Pinocchio.

Scarecrow Box

Players could purchase a Scarecrow Box for 18,000 in the Asylum during the Halloween Event (2023). When opening a Scarecrow Box, players have a 60% chance to obtain a rare Scarecrow Horse, a 30% chance to obtain an ultra-rare Scarecrow Cat, and a 10% chance to obtain a legendary Scarecrow Crow.

Trivia

• There was a pet in Adopt Me! that was called a Pet Rock. It could only be obtained temporarily in the April Fools 2020 Event. It is the only uncommon pet to be fly and ride without needing to feed it a potion and one of the only pets that cannot be hatched by an egg.
• On May 4, 2020, a temporarily available pet called a Scoob was added into the game. Scoob is the second pet that is flyable and rideable without feeding it a potion, the first one being the Pet Rock. It is a reference to the TV show Scooby-Doo and was created to promote the Scoob! movie. By making a Scoob fully grown, the player obtains detective pet wear. It disappeared after May 18, 2020. It was the first pet with the 'Event' rarity.
• On October 28, 2020, a temporary available pet called Pumpkin was added into the game. It could be obtained by playing the Pumpkin Smash mini game from the Halloween 2020 event. Pumpkin is the third pet that is flyable and rideable without feeding it a potion, the first being Pet Rock, second being the Scoob pet, and fourth being the 2D Kitty. It was later removed November 11, 2020.
• With the Backpack Update on April 20, 2021, players could organize their inventory, and their pets would be grouped into bundles. If they wanted to equip a pet, they had to click on the specific pet, and click "Equip".
