Here’s a Tip About Roadside Assistance:

If you’re planning on driving in remote areas of Mexico, it’s a good idea to purchase a Mexican car insurance policy that includes roadside assistance with winch-out service. This will give you peace of mind, knowing that you’ll be able to get help if your vehicle gets stuck.

Be sure to speak to our insurance advisors so you are aware of what specifically is included in the roadside assistance you buy. For example, MexiPass roadside assistance excludes towing if the car is stuck in “ruts or gullies, sand, dirt roads, shortcuts or wetlands.”

Key Benefits of Mexican Car Insurance

Here are some of the benefits of having Mexican car insurance:

It protects you financially in the event of an accident. If you’re at fault for an accident, Mexican car insurance will cover the cost of repairs or replacement for the other driver’s vehicle, as well as any medical expenses incurred.

It protects you from legal liability. If you’re involved in an accident and don’t have Mexican car insurance, you could be sued by the other driver.

It gives you peace of mind. Knowing that you’re properly insured can give you peace of mind while you’re driving in Mexico.

How Does Mexican Car Insurance Work?

Mexican car insurance works differently than US car insurance in a few key ways:

Liability insurance is mandatory

In Mexico, all drivers are required to have liability insurance, which covers bodily injury and property damage to others. You can choose the amount of liability coverage you want, but it’s important to note that the minimum required limits are very low. It’s a good idea to purchase more liability coverage, especially if you’re driving a newer or more expensive vehicle.

Physical damage coverage is optional

Physical damage coverage, which covers damage to your own vehicle, is optional in Mexico. However, it’s a very good idea to purchase this coverage if you’re driving a newer or more expensive vehicle, or if you’re planning on driving in more remote areas.

You must purchase a policy specifically for Mexico

Your US or Canadian car insurance policy will not cover you in Mexico. You must purchase a policy that provides local coverage specifically for Mexico. Clements provides this mandatory insurance with several options so you can choose what fits your needs and budget.

When purchasing Mexican car insurance, be sure to compare different policies and prices to find the best coverage for your needs. Our insurance advisors will walk you through the options and help you find the right coverage.

Mexican car insurance is relatively inexpensive, and it’s easy to purchase. Don’t risk driving in Mexico without Mexican car insurance. It’s a small investment that can protect you from a lot of trouble.
