A viral TikTok is sparking plenty of questions about McDonald’s refill policy.

The video, shared by a user named Orlando Johnson (@itsosoprodigy), claims that you can get free french fry refills at McDonald’s. According to the clip, all you have to do is ask.

Johnson’s video joins the ranks of McDonald’s hack videos on TikTok. In the last few months, users have shared their tricks for getting “always fresh fries,” ordering the chain’s mysterious “secret” cakes and even turning its Big Macs into homemade tacos.

This latest fast food hack is a little different, though. One thing that sets Johnson’s trick aside is that it’s not necessarily true.

In his clip, the TikToker films a man walking back to their table with a handful of freshly refilled fries.

“McDonald’s out here with exceptional service,” Johnson captioned his post.

The clip immediately sparked a huge debate about the McDonald’s refill policy when it comes to fries. Some said the video was “staged,” while others claimed it was just misleading.

“What McDonald’s are y’all going to?” one user asked.

“No way,” another added.

That’s because, first and foremost, McDonald’s does not offer free refills on french fries. According to Mashed, there is only one location — in St. Joseph, Mo., where free refills are an official policy.

Still, it seems as though it may be an unofficial policy elsewhere. In the comments of Johnson’s video, dozens of alleged fast-food employees chimed in to say that they’ll usually give a free refill if someone asks.

“As someone who works in fast food, just be nice and we’ll probably do it if the manager isn’t there,” one user wrote.

So does McDonald’s actually give free refills on french fries? No. Still, It never hurts to ask nicely.
