Lara Lane-Kent (2024)

Lara Lane-Kent is the super-powered daughter of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. She is also the first cousin once removed of Kara Zor-El.

Biography[]

Lara Lane-Kent is the daughter of Superman and Lois Lane. Though she was murdered before ever being born, a glimpse into a dream world showed her father what his life and the world would have been like if that fateful day in Metropolis had gone differently.

Injustice Comic[]

Lara appears prominently during Superman's dream in Year 3, where Joker did not kill Lois, thus leaving Metropolis unscathed, and Batman decides to kill the Joker himself to prevent further damage.

As a child, Lara grows up under the close watch of her parents, surprising Lois during her work with the first word, "Mom". Once Lara begins growing, she soon develops her Kryptonian powers and is taught how to use the powers by her father and other Justice League members such as Green Arrow.

Later, she begins accompanying her father to the League's battles and operations before eventually establishing herself as her own hero. While looking over the Earth, she wonders when the battle against crime will finally end, and Superman suggests they form and personally curb their desires themselves, but Lara jokingly remarks that it'd make them into B-class villains instead.

Moving with her alternative, Lara now acts as the Justice League's ambassador and helps guide the normal people in their own battles rather than fight them all for them. She is last mentioned to have gone to Greenland to refreeze the ice caps.

Injustice: Gods Among Us[]

Lara is mentioned several times throughout the game's storyline in reference to her and Lois' death at Superman's hands due to the Joker's insane actions. She is never called by name, just referred to as Superman's unborn child and "Baby Kent" in her gravestone.

Appearance[]

As the child of Kal-El and Lois Lane, Lara resembles both of her parents to a degree but primarily inherited her father's dark hair and blue eyes. She wears several different versions of the traditional Supergirl costume throughout her super-heroics.

Trivia[]

• In the prologue of the story mode, Superman refers to his unborn child as his son, though this is the only instance where the gender of the baby is specified. Clearing Classic Mode shows a special cutscene of Superman flashbacking to Lois and the child's graves, with Lara's only being marked as 'Baby Kent'.
• Sasha Calle's portrayal of Supergirl in the movie The Flash (2023) is visually based on Lara.
• Lara is mentioned by Gorilla Grodd in a pre-fight interaction, where Superman detected that Grodd was reading his mind, to which Grodd inquires “Whatever happened to Lara Lane?”, to Superman’s anger.
