The Foundation for Education Development

Dedicated to the belief that long-term strategic education planning is vital to the success of countries and citizens.

Published Mar 6, 2024

Education is aninvestment in society's future due to its profound long-term impacts. By framing education in this light, we acknowledge its capacity to generate returns that extend far beyond immediate costs.

A well-educated populationis not only essential for economic growth but also serves as a catalyst for innovation and the cultivation of a skilled workforce capable of navigating the complexities of today's world.

In the context of budgetary decisions, prioritising education funding becomes paramount for shaping the future trajectory of society.

A country that places an education budget at its core signifies a dedication to building a sustainable future grounded in knowledge, equity, and opportunity. By strategically allocating resources to address systemic issues such as educational inequality, infrastructure shortcomings, and inadequate teacher supply and retention, policymakers can pave the way for a more resilient and prosperous society.

We are all aware of the huge challenges across the education system. At the FED we are focussed onproviding Government with the elements ofsystem architecture that will allow the education systemto plan and deliver in the long-term.

The 4th FEDLearn Summit, Systems Are Doing It For Themselves, on ThursdayJune 6th will look at how people are devising their own solutions to some of these issues.

We will be sharing great current practice that goes beyond individual settings and offer affordable solutions that could make good, long-term policy for an incoming government.

So, whether its new ways to help tackle teacher workload, new models of curriculum, ideas to get the post covid lost students back into education, or how schools work with other agencies to respond to broader societal issues like knife crime, we want to share creative responses that are being tried ,and which could potentially make a great basis for wider education policy.

We already have a great line-up, which we will be sharing shortly. But in line with the theme, we want to reach out widely to hear about solutions you may have developed and that you would be willing to share. So feel free to drop us a message with your ideas about system solutions you are working on via email to hello@fed.education.

Initially we are keen to hear about responses to the attendance crisis and also how your school or MAT is responding to the wider needs of your local communities.

Meantime, make sure you keep Thursday June 6th free for what will be another great FED Summit (and watch out for our new Summit Plus offer) hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University Faculty of Health and Education.
