Air fryer onions are tender and savory and will add an extra punch of flavor to burgers, steaks, omelets and more! The air fryer will give you sautéed style onions with a rich flavor in about half the time it takes to make caramelized onions on the stovetop.

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions (any variety)
  • seasonings of choice (optional- see notes)
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive oil
  • ¼ cup water or broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F.
  2. Cut the tops off of the onions and peel back the outer skin and outer layer (discard). Slice the onions into thin wedges, about ¼-1/2" thick. Toss them into alarge bowl(or directly into theair fryer basketif that's the kind you have).
  3. In a shallow bowl, mix together whatever seasonings you're using to ensure they're blended well. I sometimes omit this but at a minimum, I'll use salt and black pepper, about ½ teaspoon of each.
