What is a dragon egg? ›

A dragon's egg is a fireworks pyrotechnic star which first burns for a period for a visual effect and then loudly deflagrates. This effect became controversial because of the toxic compounds once used, particularly lead tetroxide (Pb₃O₄).

But even if they aren't the dragons from your favourite lore, these hatchlings are a huge deal, because olms only lay eggs once or twice a decade, despite their 100-year lifespans. News of the 'dragon eggs' first broke earlier this year, when researchers working with the creatures found 50 to 60 eggs in the cave.

Not to be outdone, here comes Game of Thrones with an official, one-of-a-kind Fabergé dragon egg that will cost £1.6 million pounds (or $2.22 million in U.S. dollars).

The short and simple of it is that vanilla Minecraft players cannot hatch the Dragon Egg. There's simply no feature in the game that would allow the player to do this. Instead, the Ender Dragon Egg serves as a trophy of sorts, proof that the player managed to defeat the Ender Dragon.

The issue is... If the egg is not collected from the pedestal, and you try revive Ender Dragon with an Egg still on top of the pedestal, the Dragon Egg dissapears forever.
