General Information[]

Not to be confused with the Dragon category for the Lycanites Mobs Beastiary

"Dragon" is a species of mob from Ice and Fire that spawn naturally in any biome depending on the temperature of the biome. Dragons are able to spawn near villages, but it is uncommon. They spawn in tiers under 4, and in dens, roosts, and lairs in snowy, desert, and grassy biomes in tiers above 3. They can be heard flapping heavily around the sky and usually scout around for nearby passive mobs or players. Coming in two species, Ice dragons, and Fire dragons, which also come in various colors, fire dragons having the more vibrant or warmer colors, and ice dragons having mostly white with some blue variants. Each Dragon will drop it's own specie's egg, however the egg color does not have to match the dragon's (ex. Red fire dragon can drop either of the four fire dragon eggs). There are four eggs for each species. These eggs are dropped by stage 4 and 5 dragons in underground nests and hatched through two different methods depending on the species. Dragon (9)

Dragons health depend on it's size, having a max of 1000 health when fully grown. At stage four in their life, they gain the ability to break blocks, albeit the reasoning on when they do break blocks is currently untested. At stage five, they are fully grown and cannot increase in stage, although they do increase in day count.

For more in-depth information, see Fire Dragon (Ice and Fire wiki)

Combat[]

Dragons are extremely hostile in nature. They will hunt down players or mobs that come too close, dealing great damage to the landscape in the process. They will often destroy villages and other structures in their quest for food.

Fire Dragon[]

Fire Dragons wield flames and heavy damage fireballs to bombard players at range. What makes these dragons especially dangerous are Lycanite’s Mobs, specifically the elementals. Not only will a player be fighting a Fire Dragon, but also an unyielding horde of Cinders and Tremors due to fires and explosions. If the player has Fire Resistance, a dragon will land and attempt to grab them with its jaws delivering excessive damage. To avoid this, the player must press “shift” repeatedly when the dragon is about to bite down on them, freeing them from its jaws.

Ice Dragon[]

Ice Dragons are mostly the same as fire ones, but they are not able to spawn Cinders since they do not cause fires. Rather, their breath can leave behind spikes which can damage the player if not avoided. They are still capable of spawning Tremors because their Ice Bombs cause explosions.

Drops & Uses[]

Dragons don't drop items normally. Instead, right-click their dead body produces Dragon Scales, Dragon Bones, Dragon Flesh and Dragon Heart. Dragon Blood is obtained by right-clicking a fresh corpse with an Empty Glass Bottle. The corpse will disappear after having been harvested. Note that when harvesting dragon blood, it will decrease the number of scales available to collect until the cadaver is reduced to a skeleton, dropping no scales or heart and preventing the player from harvesting further blood. However, the skeleton will still drop the normal amount of bones as well as the skull. The amount of scales, bones, and volume of blood is determined by a dragon's size, with stage five dragons dropping close to 45 Dragon Scales and about five bottles of the associated dragon's blood. The bones may be combined with Witherbone in order to create Dragon Bone Weaponry. The scales are used to craft Dragon Scale Armor in the same way armor is crafted with other reagents (excluding Tide Guardian armor which uses shine scales in it's crafting as well, whereas dragon scale armor only uses the scales). Dragons' blood is used to enflame a weapon or to frost it using fire and ice dragons' blood respectively. Flamed dragon bone weapons to +8 damage to ice dragons as well as lighting targets aflame. This differs to the "Flame" enchantment as it only cooks food 50% of the time in testing. Frost dragon bone weapons deal +8 damage to fire dragons and freeze targets in a block of ice, interrupting attacks from ranged mobs for a few ticks. The frosted weapon also applies slowness to the victim as well for three seconds.

Dragon Hoard[]

Additional loot can be found in Treasure Chests around their roost/nest. They usually have Iron Ingots, Gold Nuggets, Manuscripts or rarely Diamonds.

Taming[]

To tame your own dragon you must find a Dragon cave that inhabits a Stage 4-5 Female dragon and slay it. Once you get the egg after killing the said dragon, put the Fire Dragon Egg on a Netherrack and light it on fire, it will start spinning and will start it's hatching. To hatch an Ice Dragon Egg, submerge the egg in water. The dragon will wander if it's not commanded by a Dragon Staff. You can feed it Dragon Meals to make it grow through stages. You can ride your dragon when it's grown into Stage 3 or above.

Taming Adult Dragons[]

Wild Dragons can only be tamed in creative with a special dragon meal (on the updated version of Ice and Fire).
