Actually, chocolate milk can come from any kind of dairy cow. Brown cows make the same kind of milk as black and white Holstein cows and reddish Devon cows.
Chocolate milk gets its color and flavor from cacao beans. Cacao beans are seeds from cocoa trees. After farmers harvest the beans from cocoa trees, the cocoa beans are roasted, ground up and processed into a powder or syrup. By itself, cocoa tastes bitter, so sugar is added to make the cocoa sweet.
After this process, the cocoa is ready to go into products like chocolate milk. Natural sugars in the milk can make the chocolate taste extra sweet.
