Costco Sheet Cakes Are Back! Here's Everything You Need To Know (2024)

Costco sheet cakes are a crowd favorite, so in May 2020, when they announced that they discontinued them, thousands of angry customers signed petitions and hundreds flooded the retailer’s Facebook page with critical comments. The wholesaler explained that they’d discontinued the cake to “create more space for social distancing” in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, replacing the dessert favorite with 10-inch round chocolate and vanilla cakes.

“Please bring back these cakes when social distancing is no longer in effect. We love them and they are an integral part of kids’ birthdays!” Renanit Levy replied to Costco’s Facebook announcement.

Well, we have good news for Renanit. The sheet cake is back.

Costco members who want to pick up the retailer’s famous cake — for birthday parties, special occasions, or just to enjoy that sweet, sweet buttercream — will have to fill out an in-person order form at the bakery, with the option to choose white or chocolate cake. The turnaround time for the half-sheet cake, which serves 48, is no more than 48 hours.

However, sheet cakes at Costco might be more expensive than you remember, as the wholesaler now charges $25 instead of $19 for the massive cake. Even then, Costco superfans on Reddit seem unfazedby the increase, with many noting that the cake is still a good deal.

“$25 is still so good for the size and quality compared to any grocery store,” one Redditor writes.
