Carnation® | FAQ (2024)

Can I freeze this milk?

It is not recommended to freeze evaporated milk, it changes its physical properties (colour, flavour, texture, etc.). Freezing the can could also compromise the seam integrity of the can which in turn would spoil the milk.

Is this gluten free?

Yes. Gluten from the animal feed is broken down by the cow's digestive system & is not transferred to the milk.

Can you whip it?

Yes, but Carnation evaporated milk must be cold and whipped evaporated milk must be served immediately.

Is there MSG in this product?

No.

Does it contain GMO's ( Genetically Modified Organisms )?

No.

Can I use this past the expiry ( Best Before ) date?

Not recommended as we can not guarantee the nutritional values of the product past the best before date.

Is evaporated milk the same as concentrated milk?

Yes.

How long can I keep it in the fridge?

Up to five days but recommend 48 hours.

What happens past the 48hr after opened?

If not in an air tight container, the air will cause a skin/film to form on the top.

How much water do I add to make regular table milk?

Dilute to 50/50 with water.

Would this be okay if intolerant to milk?

Milk is an allergen, and also contains lactose. Please ask your physician for advice about a food intolerance.
