A2 Key results are reported on the Cambridge English Scale.
You will receive a separate score for each of the three papers (Reading and Writing, Listening, and Speaking), giving you a clear understanding of your performance. These three scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. You will also be given a grade and Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level.
When will I get my A2 Key Statement of Results?
Results for computer-based exams are normally available 2-3 weeks after the exam session. For paper-based exams, results are normally available 4-6 weeks after the exam session. Results for digital exams are available 5-10 days after the exam session. Please note, during March 2024 we will be moving from our current computer-based exam delivery to Cambridge English Qualifications Digital, which will offer you even more benefits. The Confirmation of Entry document you receive from your centre will state the final date by which your results will be available.

A2 Key Scale Scores
Depending on which university, college or organisation you are applying to, you may be asked to achieve a specific score or grade, either overall or for a particular skill. For A2 Key, the following scores will be used to report results:

The exam is targeted at Level A2 of the CEFR. The examination also provides reliable assessment at the level above A2 (Level B1) and the level below (Level A1).
Scores between 100 and 119 are also reported on your Statement of Results, but you will not receive the Key English Test certificate.

What is a Statement of Results?
Your Statement of Results contains the following information:
- score on the Cambridge English Scale for each of the three exam papers (Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking)
- score on the Cambridge English Scale for the overall exam
- grade (A, B, C, Level A1) for the overall exam
- CEFR level for the overall exam.

What is on my certificate?
Certificates are normally sent to exam centres within three months of the exam. Please contact your centre if you need to know the specific date. Your certificate can be awarded at different levels, depending on your achievement.
A2 Key – Level B1
If you achieve a scale score of 140–150 (Distinction) in your exam, you will receive the Key English Test certificate at LevelB1.
A2 Key – Level A2
If you achieve a scale score of 120–139 (Pass, Pass with Merit) in your exam, you will receive the Key English Test certificate at Level A2.
Level A1 certificate
We believe it is important to recognise your achievement, even if you do not reach Level A2. If your exam performance is below Level A2, but falls within Level A1, we will recognise your achievement with a Cambridge English certificate stating that you demonstrated ability at Level A1.
How long is my A2 Key certificate valid for?
Your Cambridge English certificate does not expire. Recognising organisations such as universities, colleges and employers can choose how long to accept results for, so make sure you always check their requirements.

You can let employers, universities or other organisations check your results online.
Just send them your date of birth and the reference number, which can be found on your Certificate or Statement of Results and they can check your results quickly, easily and securely online atwww.cambridgeenglish.org/verifiers.

Beginner: A1 - A2
Achieving A1 proficiency typically takes 60-80 hours of dedicated study and practice. This level allows for simple interactions, such as introducing oneself and asking basic questions. A2 Level: Moving to A2 proficiency requires an additional 80-100 hours of study.
