5 secret Sonic Drive-In menu items you should know about (2024)
Oh, Sonic: How Oklahomans adore thee.
You’re the one-stop shop for burgers, tots, shakes and all of the drinks, ever.
But you have a secret menu that a lot of people don’t know about, which reporter Jennifer Palmer wrote about in 2013. It’s time to remind the masses about that secret.
Sonic fans, here are 5 secret Sonic Drive-In menu items you should become acquainted with. As long as location has the ingredients available (and know what you’re talking about), then there shouldn’t be a problem with your order.
And! Here's a video of Palmer's experience when she attempted to order some things off the secret menu:
This entry is actually four-in-one, since it focuses on some super secret drink options Sonic doesn’t advertise: the Pink Flamingo, Purple Sprite, Sonic Sunrise and Dr. Pepper org*sm.
All four are easy on the ingredients list but powerful in execution:
Pink Flamingo: Sprite with orange, pineapple, and cherry flavoring
Purple Sprite: Sprite, Powerade, lemonade and cranberry juice
Sonic Sunrise: Cherry limeade and orange juice
Dr. Pepper org*sm: Dr. Pepper, Powerade and lemonade

No. 4 – All about them tots
You can go to virtually any Sonic out there and see chili-cheese tots on the menu, which consists of tots, chili and, well, cheese.
You can add other toppings, sure, but just order the Extreme Tots (or fries) instead: Tots, chili, cheese, onion, jalepenos and ranch dressing.
It’s like cardiac arrest in a footlong paper boat, but it’s totally worth it.
Sonic’s burger game is strong, and the number of discontinued but never forgotten burger options live on through the secret menu.
Like the Hickory Burger (pictured), which basically substitutes regular sauces for hickory BBQ sauce (add onion rings onto it for the even more delicious variation of the classic Sonic burger).
Which brings me to the Ring Leader Loaded Burger, which is easily identified by its loads of grilled onions, bacon and onion ring topping.

No. 2 – Pickle-O’s
If you’re a southerner, then you’re familiar with fried pickles, also referred to as pickle-o’s.
Well, Sonic’s got em, you just have to ask for them.
Do it today (and enjoy a Purple Sprite alongside it).
“The Purple O is a drink that I guess is on the secret menu because I've been to Sonics where they don't make it or know what it is,” sophom*ore Ben Meaders said. “It's a mix of Sprite, Mountain Berry Powerade, lemonade, cranberry, and sometimes vanilla. It's really amazing and it's the only drink I get there anymore.”
Sonic Drive-In does have a secret menu. However, the Sonic secret menu isn't an official menu. Instead, it's an unofficial menu that features some unique, creative and out-of-the-box food and drink combinations created by customers.
They are orbs of sweet, flavored syrup encased in a thin candy exterior that yield and pop with light pressure, creating an exciting burst of flavor with every sip,” and they specify that they are served in drinks “beyond just teas.”
The classic Cherry Limeade Slush flavor is an all-time fan favorite for a reason. The original features cherry flavor, cherry fruit, and lime fruit. You can modify it by adding extras such as Powerade, grape flavor, or more cherry flavoring.
If you haven't heard, Sonic officially has dirty sodas. What that means is you get to pick a soda. and then the dirty part is cream, coconut, and lime. I went ahead and went with co*ke Zero.
Sonic is releasing a new out-of-this-world treat in celebration of the upcoming solar eclipse. Customers can enjoy the Blackout Slush Float, which is black in color, between March 25 and May 5.
On a shopping cart, a cabin door, or in the front of a home (white rocks, pink plastic flamingo lawn ornament, and garden gnomes) indicates a swinging party is in progress, or you are looking to attend one.
The Sonic Pink Lady drink, a hidden gem on the Sonic drink menu, is a harmonious blend of Sprite, cherry syrup, and vanilla cream. This concoction presents a delightful, vibrant pink hue, encapsulating a perfect balance of sweetness and refreshment.
Inspired by the iconic Pink Ladies from Rydell High, this special beverage is made by combining Sprite with cherry and vanilla flavors and topping it with sweet cream. Fans can easily make this craveable creation using the SONIC App*, and then get transported to the land of doo wops and pink poodle skirts.
