Yesterday, Kim was saying how having a big sparkly engagement ring on her finger suddenly made her self-conscious about her hands. Even if you've never felt the same, these three hand-beautifying tips might come in, er, handy before a photographer's going to be zooming in on your new engagement and/or wedding ring.
1. Make weekly manicures part of your routine.
Whether you're splurging on a professional mani or taking the time to do one at home, having polished nails is one of the best ways to discourage yourself from picking, biting or peeling, meaning it'll be easier to get your nails healthy (and longer, if desired) before they're in the spotlight. Applying a good hand cream each night before bed and every time you wash your hands will also help keep those cuticles smooth and neat.
2. Minimize those pesky veins.
Got veins that pop out of the back of your hand and/or look blue through your skin? Here's an easy trick I heard from newlywed Glamour.com editor Susan Cernek: Before a ring photo, hold your arms straight up--"like a Barbie doll with the arms cranked upward," Susan describes--so that all the blood drains from your hands and fingers. It'll make veins much less noticeable.
3. Choose a flattering nail shape.
