Why Reheat Brownies?

3 Simple and Quick Ways to Reheat Your Brownies (1)

Brownies can be eaten at any temperature you like. If you haven’t noticed already, I am an avid advocate for warm brownies.

Brownies have a rich and fudgy texture. It’s like a piece of chocolate cake, except much more moist, dense, and chocolaty. The signature brownie texture comes from eggs heavily aerated with brown sugar, and mixed together with a lot of butter and melted chocolate.

Chocolate solidifies at a temperature below 86°F and 90°F and butter starts to solidify at around 90°F. The recommended temperature for a refrigerator is below 40°F. This means that the chocolate and butter in your brownie will solidify, and harden even if it is placed in the fridge.

To return brownies to their soft, chewy, and moist texture, they must be brought back to room temperature, preferably higher, so that all of the ingredients melt away softly in your mouth.

The fastest and easiest way we can reheat brownies is by placing them in the microwave. To do so, you first want to have a microwave-safe plate or container for your brownie to sit on to avoid staining the inside of your microwave.

Place your brownie in the microwave and heat it up in 20-30 seconds intervals, touching and lightly pressing on it between each to check on its softness and temperature.

The number of times you’ll have to repeat depends on how cold your brownie is and your personal preference. Once you are satisfied with your brownie, take it out and enjoy!

One downside to using a microwave oven is that your brownie might not have the crispy film on top that you’ll otherwise when it comes out of the oven. If that bothers you, you might prefer the below methods.

How to Reheat Brownies in a Convection Oven

If you’re looking for a freshly baked brownie texture, and you don’t have a microwave, putting it back in the oven is the best way to warm brownies without a microwave. This is also great if you’re reheating a tray of uncut brownies.

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F. In the meantime, line your baking tray with some parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Once your oven has reached an inside temperature of 350°F, place your tray of brownies in the oven and heat for 10 to 15 minutes.

If your brownies were kept in the fridge, you may have to heat them for a few minutes longer. Make sure to keep an eye on your brownies to avoid burning them.

How to Reheat Brownies in a Toaster Oven

If you want that freshly baked brownie texture but you don’t have an oven, or you don’t want to wait as long, try reheating your brownie in a toaster oven.

Now a toaster oven might not fit as many pieces, but it can heat up one or a couple of slices in a much shorter time as it saves you the time you need to preheat a conventional oven.

Though it’s not necessary, I recommend you line your baking tray with parchment paper for easy clean-up.

Simply place your brownie on the baking tray and turn your toaster oven to its medium to high setting. Heat for around 5 minutes or until it has reached your desired temperature.

Remember to check on your brownies before adding another few minutes to avoid burning.

Brownies can be served hot or cold, but most prefer them warmed up or at room temperature. This is because cold brownies can be hard to chew on.
